Habitat for Humanity of Grant County will be building our 56th new home for a partner family in 2022. Habitat provides simple, safe & affordable homes with an interest free mortgage to our partnering family. Our families, as well as our community benefit from our program. Habitat families live in a stable, affordable, and healthy environment, helping them better afford their daily needs as well as an increased potential to build future wealth. Habitat for Humanity of Grant County offers; ‘A hand up, not a hand out’.
Habitat offers safe, decent and affordable housing, helping our partner families improve stress levels and eliminating the need for families to move frequently. Family monthly housing cost are more affordable by having a mortgage payment at 30% or less of their gross monthly income. Habitat families have more financial flexibility due to asset building through equity as they pay down their home and a more affordable budget.
The benefits to our Grant County community are improved neighborhoods. New construction, and partnering families, who are now homeowners, not a temporary renter. Habitat homes create a tax revenue source for the County. Habitat is an Equal Housing Lender that does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, handicap or familial status. Habitat uses three criteria to determine eligibility and finalize family selection; Ability to Pay, Need for Housing & Willingness to Partner.
“Habitat for Humanity of Grant County offers a hand up to families living in poverty, providing resources, opportunities & hope through safe, affordable housing with a zero percent mortgage,” says Lora Lacy, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Grant County.
