07 Oct Breakfast and Bridge the Gap
We wanted to extend an invitation to you and your lending team to join us for Breakfast on Thursday, October 20th @ 8:00AM at 511 West Third Street, Marion, IN 46952 (the building next door to our main office) to learn more about our Bridge the Gap Loan Program, as an alternative to predatory payday lending. We believe that you most likely work with individuals who may greatly benefit from this resource, however, please feel free to forward this invitation to additional team member(s) that work with low-income families and “un-bankable” clients who may need help dealing with emergency expenses.
We know that you are working hard to serve the people of Grant County. And we know that there are times when you simply can’t approve a customer’s loan request due to credit issues, income limitations, and other challenges. For people who don’t qualify for traditional financing options, an unexpected expense can quickly spiral into a major problem. which means if the refrigerator dies, the basement floods, the car gets a flat tire, or any unexpected situation pops up (and it will), paying for it could be a problem.
No one wants to have to refer a customer to a predatory lender, but under certain circumstances, it can seem like there are no other options. That’s exactly why we created Bridge the Gap—designed to provide immediate access to cash for low-income individuals and families in Grant County who need it most.
To put it simply… we know that there are some people with emergency financial needs who you just can’t help. Rather than send them away empty-handed or refer them to a predatory lender, we’d like to explain how this resource could help those individuals in our community, who you are unable to serve.
You’ll also hear more about our recently launched Impact Investing program. Impact investing is any type of investment structured to generate both a financial return and a measurable social or environmental return. It’s a bold new way to invest with the goal of accelerating positive social outcomes in our community. Unlike traditional grant-based philanthropy, impact investments are structured as flexible, affordable loans that will help local, eligible nonprofits, businesses, and people to bridge funding gaps and support community programs to drive greater impact.
Designed to further the Foundation’s overarching mission of connecting people, resources, and causes to promote sustainable impact towards the betterment of Grant County, all investments made through the impact investing program will deliver values of Leadership, Collaboration, Innovation, and Access to Opportunity, while also providing returns that can be reinvested in the community.
The Foundation will target investments that advance and address: (1) Economic Prosperity, especially opportunities to support innovation, entrepreneurship, and small business growth and development; (2) Quality of Life through improved and revitalized neighborhoods and community infrastructure; and (3) Access to Opportunity, especially for systemically marginalized individuals, businesses, and nonprofits.
To be clear… we’re asking you to join us, not only for breakfast on 10/20, but also as a collaborator in referring potential investments to this opportunity that may not be funded through typical capital providers.
As a local lending professional, we’re inviting you to hear more about Bridge the Gap, Impact Investing, and how You Can Help facilitate the local investment of additional charitable capital in response to community needs. At its core, impact investing is rooted in the principles of equity and sustainability. By activating impact investing, we are participating in a future with promise for all in our community. It’s a simple idea to generate sustainable results. We look forward to sharing more with you on October 20!
Seating is limited. Please RSVP to RSVP@GiveToGrant.org or by calling 765-662-0065 by October 14th to let us know if you can attend or if someone will be attending in your place.
