Fund Purpose:
The purpose of the fund is to provide yearly income to Cancer Services of Grant County to support the many services they provide to the Grant County community including patient navigation, advocacy, education, transportation, prescription assistance, home healthcare equipment and supplies, and so much more.
Fund Story:
Cancer Services of Grant County established this fund in honor of those facing cancer in our community shortly after Jennifer Lane-Riefler was hired as the organization’s executive director in 1999. New to the community, she became acquainted with the Foundation and asked the board of directors to support the efforts to establish this fund. “My plan was to establish a fund in order for our agency to support the efforts of the Community Foundation and to build assets for the future to help us help those facing cancer in Grant County,” Lane-Riefler said. “It was and has been a wonderful relationship from the beginning.”
The fund, as well as the organization, has grown since its initial investment of $15,000. Today, they assist more than 600 families per year who are facing all types of cancer.
Cancer Services of Grant County was established in 1959 by local individuals because of the high rates of cancer in our community. They are a unique LOCAL organization that does not exist outside of Grant County. They develop care plans based on the needs of each individual who walks through their doors so that no one has to walk their cancer journey alone. All services provided by this organization are FREE of charge. They are able to continue their efforts to increase survival rates and embrace families facing cancer in Grant County through fundraising events, grants, and their amazing donors.
