To provide support to Second Harvest Food Bank.
Second Harvest provides Help for Today and Hope for Tomorrow for thousands of individuals and families struggling with hunger and food insecurity. Our vision is to see people in East Central Indiana free from hunger.
As we embrace our organizational purpose, we direct our energy, resources, and expertise in two core focus areas: addressing issues of hunger and addressing issues of food insecurity.
- We provide Help for Today by feeding the hungry and meeting their immediate needs. Through a variety of activities and strategic partnerships, we see that food gets into the hands of those who need it.
- We provide Hope for Tomorrow by addressing the root causes of food insecurity. We collaborate with an extensive group of partners to “shorten the line” of those in need.
Second Harvest Food Bank of East Central Indiana is the region’s largest charitable hunger-relief organization serving more than a hundred pantries and meal programs in the following counties: Blackford, Delaware, Grant, Henry, Jay, Madison, Randolph and Wabash. The organization distributes over 8 million pounds of donated food and grocery products annually.
Second Harvest supports feeding agencies including food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters. These local organizations provide emergency food assistance to 67,960 hungry Hoosiers, including almost 20,000 children.
Second Harvest provides food and grocery items to other charities serving low-income residents, operates Food 4 Kids and the School Pantry Program that provide food to hungry children, and operates the Tailgate Program, a mobile pantry distributing fresh produce and other food directly to people meeting the truck. Second Harvest has a small purchase program to enhance inventory and contract with the State of Indiana to distribute government commodities.
