Fund Purpose:
To provide support to the Christmas City Walkway of Lights.

Fund Story:
This fund was created to support the Christmas City Walkway of Lights located at Matter Park in Marion, IN. The display features over 2.5 million lights on 120 displays that span a four-mile run along the Mississinewa Riverwalk. The Walkway of Lights, established in 1992, is one of the longest-running and largest light displays in the Midwest.

Marion adopted “Christmas City, USA” as its nickname after an Indianapolis television station visited to film the city’s elaborate holiday decorations in 1965. Since that time, the entire community has heartily celebrated Christmas.

The Walkway opens around Thanksgiving and is illuminated from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. until New Year’s Eve. Visitors can enjoy the light displays from the comfort of their cars, and they can also warm up with a cup of hot chocolate from the Gift Shoppe. A season pass for the Walkway can be purchased at $5 per vehicle.

The Christmas City Walkway of Lights is made possible each year by the dedicated efforts of local business sponsors and community volunteers.
