Paul and Joan Van Ness Memorial Fund

Fund Purpose:
The purpose of this fund is to support charitable causes in Grant County.

Fund Story:
The Paul and Joan Van Ness Memorial Fund was initially set up in 1993 just before the death of Joan on November 10, 1993, at the age of 64. Joan Van Ness was born on August 24, 1929, in Marion.

She lived most of her life in Indiana and on September 9, 1950, she married Paul Van Ness. Joan was a homemaker, and Paul was a veteran of the Navy and a salesman for Bell Fibre for over 40 years. They were both members of First United Methodist Church in Marion. Paul and Joan had two children, Paula and David, and one granddaughter.

This fund was established by Paula Van Ness as a way to place her mother’s funeral memorials in the Community Foundation. Paul’s name was added after his death on January 22, 2004, at the age of 77.
