40 Years!
In celebration of the Community Foundation’s 40th birthday, we gifted 40 Little Free Libraries to individuals, businesses, churches, schools, and nonprofits throughout Grant County. This initiative aims to promote literacy and foster a love of reading within the community.
The vision was to have a Little Free Library in every community across our county. All people are empowered when the opportunity to discover a personally relevant book to read is not limited by time, space, or privilege. We’re giving Grant County the gift of literacy because leaders are readers and learners are earners.
Each Little Free Library is uniquely decorated and stocked with books, serving as a community hub where residents can take a book or leave a book. This project not only increases access to books but also builds a sense of community and connectivity among residents.
In addition to the Little Free Library Kits, the Foundation provided library stewards with over 80 books to help launch their libraries. Several titles were purchased by the Foundation, and additional books were generously donated by Kate’s Kart, Allen Elementary, and Indiana Wesleyan University.

Read Aloud Books
With special thanks to Indiana Wesleyan University for partnering on this grant and graciously funding the purchase of 1000 children’s books for our Little Free Libraries, plus the videotaping and reading of the titles by none other than John McCracken. If you’ve never heard him read aloud, you’re in for a treat. He’s amazing!
