CoFo Provides Free Tool for “Make-a-Will Month”

Grant County, August 2023—Making a will creates peace of mind for you and the people and organizations you love. That’s why the Community Foundation of Grant County has made the processes of completing your will easy with a new tool called FreeWill.

The Community Foundation has partnered with FreeWill, a secure, online will-maker, which will allow you to fill out your free, legally-valid will forms in less than 20 minutes. Just answer a few questions about yourself, your assets, and your wishes, and the will-making tool provides forms and instructions for how to make your will valid in the state where you live. There are several reasons why this is vitally important to do now.

 –  Everyone needs a will, whether you’re 18 or 80. And there’s no better moment than now to begin planning for the future.

–  Your will gives you peace of mind knowing that your loved ones are taken care of your assets are distributed accurately, and that your charitable gift reflects your personal values. Selecting the right estate planning vehicle can allow you to reduce your estate taxes and income taxes while avoiding the stress and cost of interstate probate proceedings and, if you choose, creating a larger charitable gift than you may have ever thought possible.

–  Creating a will is one of the kindest things you can do for yourself and your family. By putting your affairs in order, you can prevent stress and provide for the people and causes you love.

–  Wills aren’t just for the rich and famous. There are many important reasons to have a will, and passing on your money and property is only one of them. With a will, you can choose guardians for your minor children, name caretakers for your beloved pets, write your funeral wishes, support charitable causes, and more.

Use this article as your motivational reminder to finally sit down and create your last will and testament. And with the new Freewill tool provided by the Community Foundation, we think you’ll find the process isn’t long or tedious and makes it easy to leave Grant County a slice of charitable pie.

When you include the Community Foundation in your estate plans, you ensure that your charitable goals are met for the betterment of Grant County. We can help you get started.
